This day is one that will be carved into my memory forever. Julia is such an amazing friend, and when she asked me to photograph her elopement I was ecstatic. With only their close family present, their special day was an intimate and heartfelt one.

We began the day at the cabin Julia and Aaron were staying at in Hocking Hills. It was incredibly cozy. Julia did her own hair and makeup in the cabin, and her sister and mom were there for all final touches. Before Julia got her dress on, she even helped Aaron with his finishing touches. We led Aaron outside and Julia got into her dress – which she had kept a surprise for Aaron to see.

They shared their first look right behind the cabin. After sweet moments were shared, we took off to Cedar falls. We arrived and started walking the path to the waterfall, which was only about ten minutes. I felt that this path look incredibly beautiful, and like it didn’t belong in Ohio. The tall trees made me feel like we were in the PNW.

We arrived and set up for the ceremony. It was extremely intimate, and I was in awe of the beauty of the falls, as well as their connection. Right after their first kiss, Julia and Aaron shared a first dance where their ceremony was. The way Julia’s sleeves looked was just too good. Then, we got to take portraits for some time. The light was dim, but brought out the richness of this October day.

I’ll never forget the emotions I felt on such a sweet day. Photographing this elopement just three hours from home kickstarted my dreams to travel and photograph more outside of the midwest. And for that, I am so grateful for Julia and Aaron to have invited me to capture their love.
